Father,
Thank You.
Thank You for the simplicity of the good news.
Thank You that we can understand it.
Thank You that we can receive it.
Thank You that while simple the good news is not without power.
Thank You that in it we find Him who saves.
Thank You that in it we know Him who heals.
Thank You that in it we are filled with Him who transforms.
The good news is simple yet powerful. For as Paul said to the Jews in Pisidian Antioch, “We tell you the good news: What God promised our fathers, He has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus.”
You have been faithful, God.
You are who You say You are.
You do what You say You will do.
You have fulfilled Your promise.
In Jesus the Christ, all Your promises are “Yes!” and we say, “Let it be so!” for Your glory.
A promise for all of humanity—for young and old, man and woman, Jew and Gentile, slave and free, black and white.
Salvation is open to all. Deliverance from sin and death is available for everyone. Restoration is waiting. Resurrection is coming. The Kingdom is in-breaking.
But, it’s not always easy to remember that in the middle of our circumstances.
We feel isolated, depressed, discouraged, angry, impatient.
Things aren’t as they should. Quarantine, riots, the natural disasters, the coming election.
But even more so, our relationships with You, ourselves and one another.
Not all is right, God. Not all is good and beautiful and whole.
Father, would You remind us of the simplicity and power of the gospel?
May we remember Your promises.
May we remember their fulfillment.
May we remember Your faithfulness.
May we remember You are coming back.
May we prepare to meet You. May we live here as in heaven. May we intentionally undergo the freeing work of purgation that we might live fruitful lives.
Thank You for freeing us from sin and death.
Thank You for sanctifying us each day and making us look more like Christ.
Thank You for giving us hope.
Thank You for the simple yet powerful good news, Lord.
Thank You that I never outgrow the goodness and grace of the gospel.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
