“The Ransom for a Life” is a prayer of thanksgiving from Psalm 49v7-9 and the victory of Jesus that we celebrated this past weekend. No man can redeem the life of another. Only God can do that—God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit.
Father,
No man can redeem the life of another.
No man can give to God a ransom for him.
The ransom for a life is costly.
No payment is ever enough.
That he should live on forever and not see decay.
No mere man can do it.
But You were no mere man, Jesus.
You are the God-man—fully God, fully man.
And You didn’t redeem just one life or give a ransom for only one person.
You’ve redeemed all.
You’ve paid the price for all.
And oh what a cost You paid!
You laid down Your life that we might have life.
You’ve opened the door to eternal life and all are welcomed to walk through.
You’ve redeemed us, Father.
By the blood of Your Son, we live again!
By Your Spirit, we rise from the ashes of defeat!
You’ve redeemed our lives from the grave.
You will surely take us to Yourself.
And we will live in the Light of Life forevermore.
Thank You, Father.
Thank You, Jesus.
Thank You, Spirit.
Amen.
