O Heavenly Father,
We think about the future and the possibilities that lie ahead and where You may lead us.
And, we question ourselves.
Will I be strong enough?
Will I be faithful enough?
Will I be able to provide?
Will I be able to be gracious and patient?
Will I endure?
Will I be wise enough?
Will I be able to love and forgive?
I am reminded of the words of Solomon:
Unless the LORD builds the house,
Its builders labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city,
The watchmen stand guard in vain.
It’s not about us.
Our sufficiency, our adequacy doesn’t ultimately matter.
It’s Your sufficiency and Your adequacy that count.
It’s up to You.
The questions we are asking ourselves are really shadows to the unspoken questions we want answered about You (and perhaps unbeknownst to us).
Will You provide?
Will You sustain?
Will You heal?
Will You give us the grace we need?
Will You be our Strength and give us strength?
Will You show us Your mercy, compassion and goodness?
Will You give us wisdom?
And, they can all be summed up in one question:
Will You be faithful?
And, Your words ring in my ears, Jesus.
And, that I even know Your name Jesus is such evidence of Your faithfulness, for You are the Seed that was promised to Adam and Eve as their redemption. You are the One of which You, Father, spoke of when You said to the serpent:
Thank You, Father, that we can trust Your faithfulness.
Thank You, Jesus, for promising to never leave us nor forsake us.
Thank You, Spirit, for manifesting the Father’s presence in our lives daily.
May we have the boldness to go live Your way, Jesus, baptizing and making followers of the Way.
May we not be afraid to follow where You lead and to do as You do.
May we find that the answer to Will You be faithful? is a resounding YES.
In the name of Jesus our Lord,
Amen.

May we remember God’s faithfulness through the ages.
